Matched Specimens

Age-matched, gender-matched, and ethnicity/race-matched specimens are available for normal control and disease states.

Tissues are available for cancer, COPD, emphysema, asthma, diabetes, blood disorders, and other inflammatory and autoimmune states.

Specimen Handling and Processing

TBS provides formalin-fixed tissue (10% neutral buffered formalin — NBF), fresh tissue in optimal transport media, snap/flash frozen tissue, OCT-embedded snap frozen tissue blocks, and formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) blocks.

Blood and urine biospecimen samples are also available.

Specimens are processed according to approved protocols that may be customized to fit specific research needs.

Ethical Procurement

Research tissues are collected from ethically-consented donors as per protocols that are approved by the appropriate Human Subjects Protection Program (HSPP), Ethics Committee, and/or Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Donor consents are kept on file with our reputable and certified sources.

Tissue, blood, urine and biospecimens are ideal for:

  • Pharmaceutical drug discovery, research and development

  • Companion diagnostics

  • Biotechnology

  • Clinical science, basic science, and translational research areas

Each collection site adheres to regulations mandated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), assuring strict chain of custody for all research tissues provided by TBS.

Banked Specimens and Prospective Collections

Many specimens are available from retrospective banking. If your needs are not met by our network of banked specimens, TissueBioSource will develop custom protocols for prospective collections dependent on your project requirements.
